FALMOUTH, MA – The police in Falmouth have identified the victim in an accident involving a car plunging into the ocean on February 20, NBC10 Boston reported.
ATHENS – A Greek Fire Service official on the island of Skiathos was arrested after police said they found child pornographic images on electronic devices, and a police officer in Athens held on charges of allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl.
Neither suspect was named but Kathimerini said the Deputy Commander of the Skiathos Airport Fire Station was turned in by his partner who said she found graphic photos of her 10-year-old daughter on his phone, said state-run ERT3 TV.
Officers raided his home and said they found photos of minors on his cell phone, including one of a girl believed to be around eight years old and that they seized computers, two mobile phones and a digital storage device.
The suspect was living with a divorced mother of two girls aged 10 and 12 who told authorities that her younger daughter told her that her partnber made her sleep in his bed while she was away.
She said that several days later he came home drunk and she found in his mobile phone photos of her daughter that were focused on her genitals and then went to the police to report him. He has been suspended.
The Athens police officer was also put on leave and an administrative investigation begun after he was arrested by the Internal Affairs Division after the victim and her parents accused him of rape.
They reportedly said that the officer, who was a volleyball coach on an island, drove the teen to an isolated location and raped her and used a social media account he set up to lure her into watching pornography.
The 14-year-old was examined by a doctor while the preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had molested another minor as well, said Kathimerini, adding that police seized mobile phones, computers, video cameras, a tablet and digital storage devices from the suspect’s home.
The police officer was led before a prosecutor but no report of what happened nor where he was assigned or any details given as Greek privacy laws generally keep the names of suspects private.
