NEW YORK – The annual event marking International Holocaust Remembrance Day will be organized again this year by the Consulate General of Greece in New York.
As officially announced, the memorial is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 19 at 6:30 PM in the Hebrew Union College Auditorium (1 West 4th Street, New York, NY 10012), with a large attendance expected.
The keynote speaker will be the renowned illustrator – and president of the School of Visual Arts – Victor Koen, bringing his unique perspective to a gathering combines emotions, social messages, and historical knowledge.
The musical part of the program is expected to be of particular interest, which will be performed by Erini Tornesakis and Nektarios Antoniou, with the assistance of the well-known pianist and composer Michael Brown. They will perform traditional Sephardic songs, traditional Greek lamentations, and the emblematic composition ‘Asma Asmaton’ by Mikis Theodorakis.
“We hope that the event, once again, will commemorate the Holocaust and will unequivocally confirm our commitment to oppose and fight anti-Semitism,” stated, among other things, the announcement of the Consulate General of Greece in New York.
