Greek Communists Block Train Carrying US Abrams Tanks to Bulgaria

ATHENS – Greece’s KKE Communists and members of its youth group KNE prevented a train carrying American Abrams tanks coming out of the port city of Alexandroupolis from reaching Bulgaria, disconcerting that country’s military.

“This intense show of anti-imperialist sentiment resulted in the train’s journey from the port of Alexandroupolis to Bulgaria being stopped. The group made their protest known with stark and evocative slogans such as “murderers go home” painted on tranks, leading them to be rerouted, said the Bulgarian Military site.

The train, specifically targeted due to its military cargo, was barricaded by the group, said E-Evros, gr. a local news website and that the protesters were waving flags and chanting and demanding that “US-NATO Killers” should leave the port and Greece.

Stavros Bazas, a member of the Eastern Macedonian Thracian Regional Committee for the KKE, said Greece is allowing the port to effectively become a NATO satellite base, the Communists long opposed to the defense alliance that opposes Russia.

“The utilization of the port, railway infrastructure, and camps in the region by NATO, the sobering butchers of people who transport dangerous military materials to the Bulgarian border with a multitude of trucks and trains is something we strongly denounce,” he said.
