Greek-American VFW Post Honors Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

LANSDOWNE, PA – The only Greek-American Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) post in the United States paid tribute to fallen heroes on Memorial Day for the 76th year in a row.

One of the longest running events in the Greek-American community of Philadelphia continued at the St. Demetrios area of Fernwood Cemetery in Lansdowne on May 30. Veterans of the VFW post, family, friends, clergy, and patriots gathered to honor those who dedicated their lives to serving our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Eleftheria VFW 6633 is the only Greek-American post in the country and has been in operation since 1946. They have continued the tradition of honoring veterans every Memorial Day for 76 years.

The VFW is seeking new members to join monthly meetings at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Upper Darby, PA. Eleftheria VFW Post 6633 is committed to excellence and strives to continue the tradition of honoring veterans on Memorial Day and all year long.
