LOS ANGELES – Greek-American cinematographer Anastas Michos, ASC, GSC, was featured in an article on the Asian Movie Pulse (AMP) website which noted that he “has established himself as a master of visual storytelling, seamlessly adapting his craft across genres.”

“Recently, he collaborated with Shane Black on the highly anticipated Mark Wahlberg action-thriller Dirty Player, set for release next year,” AMP reported, adding that “Michos’ versatility is evident in a portfolio that spans the romantic comedy ‘The Kissing Booth,’ the horror classic ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D,’ and the Emmy-nominated Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Cabinet of Curiosities.’”

Michos received an Emmy nomination in 2023 for Outstanding Cinematography for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his work on the episode titled ‘The Autopsy’ in Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Cabinet of Curiosities,’ the Netflix horror-anthology series featuring eight macabre stories guest-directed by notable genre filmmakers.

“Over the years, Michos has worked with top-tier directors like Ron Howard, Neil Jordan, and Milos Forman, delivering breathtaking cinematography for films such as ‘Mona Lisa Smile,’ ‘Freedomland,’ and ‘Man on the Moon,’” AMP reported, noting tha “his expertise has brought visual beauty to the performances of Hollywood icons like Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, and Jennifer Hudson.”

Prior to his work as a Director of Photography, Michos “was a pioneering Steadicam operator, working closely with inventor Garrett Brown and co-inventing the SkyCam,” AMP reported, adding that “Michos’ technical prowess, along with his artistic eye, has made him a sought-after figure in the industry.”

Michos is a member of the prestigious American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), the Greek Society of Cinematographers (GSC), and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

“Beyond his work on set, Michos shares his knowledge as a lecturer, educating and inspiring the next generation of filmmakers at workshops and universities worldwide,” AMP reported, noting that “his commitment to teaching and mentoring has solidified his legacy as not only a master cinematographer but also a respected educator in the film community.”

Michos’ latest project is ‘Dirty Player’ with upcoming projects also in the works “that promise to push the boundaries of cinematic excellence,” AMP reported.
