Greek-American Chris Rodis of Boca Raton, FL, is Mourned

LOWELL, MA – Chris C. Rodis, 85, a longtime resident of Boca Raton, FL, and more recently Westford, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20. He was the loving husband of the late Carole (Metropolis) Rodis who died on June 30, 2017. Chris missed his cherished wife of 50 years until the day he died.

Born in Lowell, MA, he was the youngest of Costas and Georgia (Tsaffaras) Rodopoulos' nine children. Following his graduation from Lowell High School, Chris proudly served in the Army. Upon his discharge, he pursued a number of careers but found his calling selling financial and insurance products. He attributed his success to his ability to assure his clients "I may not be able to help you, but I will never hurt you."

Following their marriage, Chris and Carole moved to Florida, living first in Miami before settling in Boca Raton for 39 years. After Carole's passing, Chris moved back to the Lowell area to be close to his family.

Chris was a founding member of St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church in Boca Raton and was also a longtime steward of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell.

He is survived by a sister, Helen Patrick of Old Westbury, NY, a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Mitropoulos of Dracut, MA, and many loving nieces and nephews who will miss hearing his beautiful voice sing songs of his favorite entertainer, Frank Sinatra. He was predeceased by three sisters, Connie, Joanne, and Marie, and four brothers, James, William, George, and Peter.

Relatives and friends were received by the family at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell, Fr. Sarantos Way on Wednesday, December.  A funeral service followed at the Church and interment took place at Westlawn Cemetery. Im lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Fr. Sarantos Way, Lowell MA 01854 or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
