Greek Τrade Deficit Up 33.3% in July

ATHENS – Greek trade deficit grew by 33.3% in July as imports growth rate continued exceeding that of exports. More specifically, a report released by Hellenic Statistical Authority on Wednesday on the country’s merchandise trade, showed that the value of imports totaled 7.968 billion euros in July from 5.8 billion in July 2021, an increase of 37.3% (excluding oil products imports were up 18.7% while excluding oil imports and ships they rose 18.2%). The value of exports totaled 4.971 billion euros, up 39.9% from July 2021 (excluding oil products exports rose 17.8% while excluding oil products and ships they rose 17.9%).

The country’s trade deficit totaled 2.996 billion euros, from 2.248 billion last year, for an increase of 33.3% (excluding oil products the deficit rose 20.2% while excluding oil products and ships the defiict was up 18.9%).

In the seven month period from January to July, imports totaled 51.644 billion euros, up 49%, while exports amounted 30.977 billion euros, up 39.7%. The trade deficit was 20.667 billion euros, up 65.4%.
