ATHENS -- "Professionals and tourism workers are even more worried now after Thursday's announcements by (Prime Minister Kyriakos) Mitsotakis. There is a clear anxiety about the future of the Greek economy. Greek society is worried by the way the government is handling the crisis," main opposition SYRIZA's spokesperson Alexis Charitsis said in an interview with Max FM radio station on Friday.

He added: "The fragmentary measures, the wait-and-see approach regarding small- and medium-sized enterprises and the breakdown in labour relations are not accidental. The government is trying to impose a model of internal devaluation with wage cuts, an explosion of unemployment, a reduction in the disposable income of the citizens and the collapse of insurance funds, which will lead us into a vicious cycle of recession and austerity measures."

"This policy was implemented in the first years of the 10-year crisis and had a significant cost for Greek society," he added.
