ATHENS - Main opposition SYRIZA had a video conference with Northern Ireland's Sinn Fein party, which participates in the Northern Ireland Assembly and its Executive, the devolved government of Northern Ireland. The meeting was held in the context of SYRIZA's contacts with leftist and progressive forces, focusing on the pandemic and its repercussions in Europe.

According to a SYRIZA announcement, the two sides agreed that the European left and progressive forces need to undertake common initiatives.

SYRIZA's head foreign affairs, George Katrougalos, and the SYRIZA's Political Committee member in charge of international and European Affairs, Rania Svigou, represented SYRIZA, while Sinn Fein National Chairperson and Northern Ireland Assembly member Declan Kearney and his political advisor and Sinn Fein member Conor Keenan represented Sinn Fein.
