ATHENS -- Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was given a tour of key pavilions at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), accompanied by TIF-Helexpo President Tasos Tzikas, on Saturday.

The electromobility pavilion was the first one visited by the premier, where he looked at electric bicycles and e-cars, and he also went on an electric bus and was briefed on its operation.

A dynamic involvement in electromobility is key to achieving gas emissions reduction targets, noted Mitsotakis, and added that this is a plan "which the government has worked on very thoroughly, and has a very generous incentives framework, and significant resources from the EU Recovery Fund to finance the rapid transition to e-mobility."

At the Ministry of Infrastructure & Transport pavilion, Mitsotakis was welcomed by Minister Kostas Karamanlis, who said that the city of Thessaloniki's metro system will be ready by the end of 2023, the latter speaking after his meeting with Attiko Metro SA President Nikos Tachiaos.

Welcomed by Energy & Environment Minister Kostas Skrekas at the relevant pavilion, Mitsotakis congratulated the Public Power Company's (PPC) board for the record-breaking 2.1 bln euro bid it received in a tender for the purchase of 49% of Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) on Friday.
