ATHENS - Infrastructure and Transport Minister Costas Karamanlis, in an interview with the radio station Real FM 97.8 on Thursday, spoke about the resumption of air travel.

Karamanlis said that Greece, through the prime minister, had already requested joint guidelines for travel within the European Union since April at the Summit, and considered that yesterday's announcements of the European Commission were in line with this.

He also said that the request of our country that there should be no discrimination between the member states of the European Union had been accepted. "There must be a gradual opening of Europe's internal borders between countries in a similar epidemiological state," he said, adding that "every member state of the European Union will be given the opportunity to decide whether country A is in a similar epidemiological state with country B and come to a closer bilateral agreement."

Asked about the use of air conditioning in public transport in anticipation of a mini heatwave, Karamanlis said that the advice of National Public Health Organisation was for air conditioners to only operate in the case of an emergency.
