ATHENS -- Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, on Friday in an interview with ANT1 TV, described the current heatwave as another extreme weather phenomenon, which is not cut off from the whole overall threat of climate change.

Hardalias urged companies to take measures for people working outside as well as offering them more opportunities for rest. "We all have to adapt to the situation in the following days," he said.

He also mentioned that the competent secretaries are participating in today's meeting so that they can all see the individual issues together.

"Every day we face different circumstances. The mechanism is also being prepared for this extreme phenomenon, the heatwave. There are the plans that both the municipalities and the regions have and there are also individual issues that will be discussed today in relation to the employees, in relation to the preparation of the mechanism, because it is not only the issue of the heat but it is also the issue of fires," Hardalias underlined.
