WASHINGTON -- The US State Department is deeply concerned about Turkey's ongoing activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, over the possibility of extending Turkish activities very close to the island of Kastellorizo.

"As we have stated before, the United States is deeply concerned about Turkey's continuing activities to explore natural resources in areas where Greece and Cyprus are claiming jurisdiction in the Eastern Mediterranean," a State Department spokesperson said in response to a question.

At the same time, the US State Department expressed its strong support for the dialogue between Greece and Turkey, encouraging all parts to resume talks on the specific issues.

The spokesperson reiterated the US firm commitment to making use of the resources of the Eastern Mediterranean in a way that promotes cooperation and lays the foundations for lasting energy security and economic prosperity throughout the region.
