ATHENS - The Athens area water and sewage company (EYDAP) will not be privatized, Infrastructure & Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis said on Thursday to Parapolitika 09.1 FM radio, refuting what he called fake news and hypocrisy by SYRIZA.

Karamanlis said that 60 pct of EYDAP belongs to the Greek state, but the company is on the stock exchange. What will be privatized is the network's maintenance which costs the state 26.5 million euros annually.

There will be a competitive process, and the government will use a Private-Public Partnership in order to reduce annual operational and maintenance costs and improve water quality, he said.
