ATHENS - EU funds will not be handed out simply in order to simply cover cash flow needs but must be wisely spent, not only for this generation but also for those to come, stated State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis in an interview with ANT1 TV on Wednesday. He also offered assurances that the money will not come with new commitments, noting that the "EU will give guidelines but beyond that it will be the choice of the Greek state".

On Greek-Turkish relations, he said that "there is a very specific and comprehensive operational plan which will escalate in terms of the Greek state's reactions," and he recollected the presence of the French frigate in the area of the Eastern Mediterranean when this was deemed necessary. "That's why Turkey will think a great deal more, at least twice, before doing anything," he added.
