Christina Papaconstantinou Sworn in As Bank of Greece Deputy Governor

ATHENS -- Bank of Greece executive Christina Papaconstantinou was on Thursday sworn in as the new deputy governor of the Bank of Greece, in the presence of President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The ceremony was attended by Finance Minister Christos Staikouras and Bank of Greece governor Yannis Stournaras.

Following her appointment, the leadership of the Greek central bank is as follows:

Yannis Stournaras, governor

Theodoros K. Pelagidis, deputy governor

Christina Papaconstantinou, deputy governor.

According to a Bank of Greece press release, she replaces Theodoros Mitrakos, whose term expired on Wednesday.

Ms Papaconstantinou is a graduate from the Law School of the University of Athens, with a master’s degree in European Community Law from the University of London.

She served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and as Secretary General of Fiscal Policy at the General Accounting Office from 2012 to 2014, and in that capacity participated in Greece’s negotiations of its economic adjustment programmes.

Since 2017, Ms Papaconstantinou is the Chair of the Board of Directors of PQH SA.
