Greece: Wildfires in Rethymno and Patras Under Control

RETHYMNO – The fire fronts in Kria Vryssi, Orne and Rodakino in Rethymno region on Crete were under control on Sunday as there were no rekindling during the night. All the firefighting forces will remain in the stricken areas until there is no smoke as the danger of rekindling is high because of the winds.

Wildfire near Patras still in progress

The condition with the wildfire that broke out on Saturday afternoon at a farming area in Kallithea, near the port city of Patras is better on Sunday, the Fire Bridage said.

Thirty five fire engines with 118-member crew, six teams of firemen on foot assisted by two firefighting aircraft and a helicopter are operating in the area.
