Greece: Fire on Foothills of Mount Poikilo Partially under Control

ATHENS – The fire brigade has sounded the alarm after wildfire broke out in a stand of forest on the foothills of Mount Poikilo on Wednesday at around noon.

The fire brigade said the fire started at the end of Anapafseos Road in Kamatero, Attica and does not pose a threat to homes at present.

A force of 39 fire fighters and two teams on foot, seven vehicles and two PZL aircraft are operating to put out the blaze, assisted by local authority water trucks.
