Greece Unveils Incentives for the Use of Electric Cars

ATHENS — A "package" of incentives for the purchase and use of electric vehicles was announced on Friday by Environment and Energy Kostis Hatzidakis and by Infrastructure and Transport Minister Kostas Karamanlis. This includes a bonus for the purchase of electric cars, scooters and bicycles, facilitation of their use and incentives for investments in electromobility, especially in lignite-mining areas.

Overall, the cost of buying an electric car is to be reduced by an average of 25 pct, a benefit added to the significantly reduced cost of use (for power and maintenance) compared to conventional vehicles.
