Greece: Taxpayers’ Arrears to the State Eased in August

ATHENS — Taxpayers' arrears to the state fell to 301 million euros in August, down 31.7 pct from August 2020, Public Revenue Independent Authority said in a report on Thursday.

In total, taxpayers' new arrears to the state reached 3.436 billion euros in August with the number of debtors totaling 3.5 million, while total arrears were 109.038 billion euros, of which84.165 billion were collectable.

In the eight-month period from January to August, debt collection totaled 1.053 billion euros, up 46 pct from the same period in 2020.
