Greece: Seven Rescued After Fishing Boat Runs Aground

December 21, 2021

ATHENS – A fishing boat ran aground on the Tripiti Reef in the sea north of Makronissos on Monday afternoon. The seven people on board were picked up by rescue vessels and are in good health.

Two Coast Guard patrol boats and private boats rushed to the spot to help collect the seven people on the fishing boat and transfer them to Vromopousi beach, Keratea.

The Central Port Authority of Lavrio, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, has forbidden the fishing boat from setting sail, while marine pollution clean-up crews and equipment have been placed on standby as a precaution.
