Greece Sets Guinness World Record with Giant Salad

September 5, 2016

MOSCOW— Greece broke the world record for the largest Greek salad at Moscow’s Red Square on September 4.

Over 1,200 volunteers participated in making the largest Greek salad in history, which weighed 20 tons.

Mouzenidis Travel took the initiative to organize and carry out the unique event aimed at the promotion of Greece abroad, the company said in an announcement.

“Our aim was to further promote the Greek cuisine to Russians,” Giorgos Masmanidis, general manager of Mouzenidis Travel, said to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

Presented at the end of the Savior Tower festival which promotes Greek-Russian relations, the giant salad is now one for the record books. Traditional Greek songs and dances were also performed at the festival.
