Greece Reports 13 New Coronavirus Cases, 1 Death in Last 24 Hours

ATHENS — Another 13 Greeks were confirmed infected with coronavirus, in the last 24 hours, and 1 died, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Thursday.

The total number of cases is 3,321, of whom 55.0 pct are men. Of the total, 734 are people who were infected abroad and 1,851 were infected by already known cases. The source of infection for the rest is unknown. Their median age is 48 years.

Nine Greeks are intubated in hospitals, and their average age is 75 years. Two are women and the majority have an underlying condition or are aged 70+.

Another person died since Wednesday, bringing the total number of fatalities since Jan. 1 to 191; most of them were men. The median age of the deceased is 76 years, while the majority of patients had some underlying condition and/or were aged 70+.

Greece has tested a total of 291,840 people as of Jan. 1 of whom 5,386 (1.8 pct) were found to be positive. (The total number includes repeat tests.)
