Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS — Greece actively promotes the consolidation of peace and stability in the area of the eastern Mediterranean according to the International Law and continues to support the efforts for a political solution in Syria, stated the Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the 10-year anniversary from the beginning of the civil war in Syria with hundreds of dead and millions of refugees.
"This solution should guarantee the unity, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the country according to UN's Security Council Resolution. For reaching this solution is necessary the immediate withdrawal of the foreign troops from Syria. Additionally, Syria should stop being the field of confrontation of foreign interests at the expense of Syria and the Syrian people".
In this context, said the Foreign Ministry, Greece continues to totally support the efforts of UN Special envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen.
"It is reminded that Greece continues to host thousands of Syrian refugees and provides them humanitarian and social assistance, bearing a very heavy burden for the country's capacities".
