Greece Marks 50 Years of Restoration of Diplomatic Relations with Albania

ATHENS — "Today we mark 50 years of restoration of diplomatic relations between Greece and Albania," the Greek foreign ministry posted on Thursday on Twitter.

"We look forward to continuing working together to build on good neighbourly relations, forge close ties of cooperation on basis of international law and a common European future," it added.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met the newly appointed Ambassador of Albania to Greece, Luela Hajdaraga, on Thursday, the 50th anniversary since Greece and Albania resumed diplomatic relations.

According to a foreign ministry tweet, the focus during their talks was on the "positive momentum for bilateral cooperation and building on good neighbourly relations as Greece and Albania today celebrate 50 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations."


ATHENS – The New Democracy government said its major rival SYRIZA, which has a hard-core nucleus of anarchist and terrorist sympathizers, should take a stand over violent demonstrations trying to block construction of a new Metro subway station in the central neighborhood of Exarchia.
