Greece Granted Observer Status in Central American Integration System (SICA)

December 11, 2022

ATHENS – Greece has been unanimously granted observer status to the Central American Integration System “SICA” (Sistema de la Integración Centroamericana), the foreign ministry announced.

The relevant decision was taken on Friday at the Meeting of Heads of State and Government of the SICA countries in Santiago de Los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic, which currently holds the organization’s Pro Tempore Presidency.

This development demonstrates Greece’s enhanced role in the region in recent years and reflects its strong ties with the Central American states, the foreign ministry said in its announcement on Saturday.
