Greece Getting Another Luxury Resort, Six Senses Porto Heli on Peloponnese

While Greece’s New Democracy government is fervently pursuing foreign investors, luxury resorts need no persuasion, the sector growing rapidly and now a London-based real asset merchant bank, CBE Capital, financing another.

It’s called Six Senses Porto Heli after the location on the Peloponnese that lures those with deep pockets and is an ultra-luxury accommodation of the type Greece most wants, while at the same time vowing to let the public have more access to public beaches.

The property will be home to 60 hotel suites and 12 branded residences, CBE Capital getting a 95 million euro ($101.82 million) senior bond loan facility from Piraeus Bank in Athens for its club-deal investment, said Top Hotel News.

The resort isn’t scheduled to open until 2026 and will join a long line of similar facilities in Greece which is seeing an abundance of 5-Star accommodations. The 150 million euro ($160.76 million) project is equity-financed by CBE Capital, Golden Land Goutos, Taconic Capital Advisors and Cedar Capital Partners.

Geza Toth-Feher, Managing Partner of CBE Capital, said: “Our Greek debt transaction bucks a trend in the Eurozone, and the US. It shows that high quality transactions, despite difficult market conditions, can still be financed. We are looking forward to working with Piraeus Bank on the financing for the Six Senses Porto Heli.”

Greece’s first Six Senses resort

The property will take shape within two private bays in the municipality of Ermioni on the Greek mainland. From the resort, the islands of Spetses and Hydra will also be within sight, the site said.

Theodore Tzouros, Executive General Manager, Chief Corporate & Investment Banking of Piraeus Bank, said: “The financing of this Project is in line with Piraeus Bank’s long-term strategy and commitment to support new investments in the hospitality sector that contribute decisively to Greek economic growth.”
