ATHENS — Τhe Central Archaeological Council (CAC) on Wednesday unanimously gave a green light to a request by the Christian Dior fashion firm to be allowed to do photo and film shoots for its new collection "Cruise 2022" at a number of major archaelogical sites – specifically on the Athens Acropolis, the Herodes Atticus Odeon, the Ancient Roman market, the Temple of Poseidon at Sounio and in ancient Nemea. Only photographs are going to be taken on the Acropolis hill – specifically in front of the Parthenon and the Erechthion – reminiscent of the historic photo shoot in 1951.
CAC has set very strict conditions regarding the film shoots at the archaeological sites, while on Thursday, the Central Council of Modern Monuments will discuss the firm's request to use the Panathinakon Stadium (Kallimarmaro) for Dior's fashion show for the "Cruise 2022" collection, which Dior plans to hold on June 17 and which will be the epicentre of the events in Athens.
One of CAC's conditions was that film should not be shot inside the ancient temples.
