Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS — Greek European Parliament deputy Yiannis Lagos filed a suit against Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on Tuesday over statements she made when Golden Dawn, the party he was elected on, was ruled a criminal organization and its deputies criminals.
In the suit filed by his lawyer Kostas Plevris, the MEP who is currently listed as independent by the Europarliament, is demanding 100,000 euros in damages as emotional hardship caused, as he claims, when the president "insulted the presumption of his innocence, his personality, and his right to self-definition," thus "influencing the judges" who will hear his appeal.
The statements he refers to were made on October 7, and Lagos said through his lawyer that the amount the court awards him will be turned over to the State Psychiatric Hospital.
