GNTO Action to Promote Greek Tourism in the Chinese Market

December 21, 2020

ATHENS — The Greek National Tourist Organisation continued its systematic efforts for the promotion of Greek tourism in the Chinese market, participating with great success in the online "Weibo National Week" campaign organised by the popular social media platform Sina Weibo on December 7-11. In total, the campaign hashtag had more than 210 million views and 211,000 reposts.

The campaign, with the central message "The world is so big, I want to see it!", invited the Chinese public to explore a variety of destinations around the world and plan their next trip. The GNTO China service posted daily videos and photos on the Sina Weibo platform and its own social media accounts featuring Astypalea, Greek gastronomy and other Greek destinations, accompanied by relevant hashtags and selected topics.

Weibo also created the online game "Guess where this is?" where users were invited to identify Greek destinations and monuments and to participate in a lottery of souvenirs, while many users reposted the GNTO's posts to win complimentary gifts (wine, oil and mugs with the logo of the Organisation).
