Gianaris Partners with GNY LECET, Woodside on the Move for Backpack Giveaway

WOODSIDE, NY – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris joined LiUNA and Woodside on the Move for a back to school supplies giveaway at P.S. 361Q on September 6. He partnered with the Woodside on the Move and Greater New York LECET, a labor-management partnership between affiliated LiUNA Laborers’ locals and their signatory contractors. Senator Gianaris gave away over 75 backpacks and coloring books to children and families in Woodside. The backpacks were donated by GNY LECET.

“With the school year underway, the need for school supplies continues for many families,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris. “I thank GNY LECET and Woodside on the Move for their partnership in this effort.”

Woodside on the Move partnered with a number of area elected officials and community organizations as part of their Back to School Distribution, including U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, State Assembly Members Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas and Brian Barnwell, New York City Council Members Tiffany Cabán and Julie Won, the Mets Foundation, New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, and Beacon Healthcare.

Meng, Assembly Member Gonzalez Rojas, Council Member Julie Won and all our elected leaders and community partners for making our back to school supply distribution a success. This is such a great opportunity to ensure Woodside students are ready to go back to school and to grow and empower our local community further.”
