Gianaris on DEC Rejection of Power Plant Application

ASTORIA – New York State Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris on October 27 issued the following statement about the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s rejection of NRG’s application for a new fossil fuel power plant in Astoria:

“Our community drew a line in the sand against new fossil fuel infrastructure and won. Let this be a statement of what our policy should be as we fight the ravages of the climate crisis. No more fossil fuel plants should get approved, period!

“Deepest thanks to the organizers and community leaders who fought so hard for this victory.”
