Gianaris, Borough President Richards Host Cleaning Supplies Distribution Event

WOODSIDE, NY – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards will host a cleaning supplies distribution event on Tuesday, October 12 for Woodside neighbors impacted by Hurricane Ida. Woodside on the Move will join Senator Gianaris and Borough President Richards’ office. The supplies were donated by The Home Depot.

“Hurricane Ida upended lives and caused significant damage that continues to this day. We must be here to help our neighbors recover,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris. “I’m proud to partner with Borough President Richards and Woodside on the Move to help our community.”

"Storm recovery isn't an overnight process, and my office is committed to doing all we can for as long as necessary until all our families impacted by Ida's historic devastation are made whole again," said Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, Jr. "Thank you to Senator Gianaris, Woodside on the Move and Home Depot for helping make this critical distribution of supplies possible."

“Residents of Western Queens have been disproportionately impacted by Hurricane Ida. With cleaning supplies in need for recovering families, I’d like to thank Senator Gianaris and Queens Borough President Richards in proactively leading this effort for our communities,” said Steven Raga, Executive Director for Woodside on the Move.

The leaders are urging neighbors to replace their cleaning supplies following clean-up efforts from Hurricane Ida. Reusing mops, brooms, buckets, and other equipment to clean up water damage that may have been caused by sewer overflows can lead to further contamination and the spread of disease.

The supplies will be distributed outside Woodside on the Move’s headquarters, 51-23 Queens Boulevard, on Tuesday, October 12, 3-6 PM.

Pre-registration is required. To receive cleaning supplies, go to bit.ly/cleaningupIDA (the link is case sensitive).
