Gas Leak Risk in Pallini Due to Fires Promptly Dealt with, EDA Attica Says

ATHENS – A natural gas leak in Pallini caused by the wildfires in eastern Attica has been repaired, while the gas supply was automatically cut off when the leak occurred, gas provider EDA Attica announced on Wednesday morning.

A repair team fully isolated the point of the leak and dealt with the incident, in collaboration with the fire brigade and the civil protection operations centre, while the fire in the area is now extinguished and fully under control.

EDA pointed out that the network has a system to automatically cut off the supply in the case of a leak, while company teams are on standby and conducting checks in the wider region of northeast Attica, in coordination with the civil protection operations centre and the fire brigade.

The company said that citizens should contact the EDA Attica Emergency Response Centre regarding any safety issue relating to the natural gas network, at the 24-hour phone line 11322.
