ATHENS — French MEPs Arnaud Danjean, chairman of the EPP Central Committee and François-Xavier Bellamy, head of the French delegation of the 'Les Républicains' party, visited Athens for meetings with government officials as part of their regular contacts with European officials.
The visit was coordinated by the Vice President of the EPP Central Committee and head of New Democracy (ND) delegation to the European Parliament, Evangelos Meimarakis, who accompanied his colleagues to the Maximos Mansion, where they discussed with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis the current political situation and expressed the EPP's support for Greece's positions on all issues, as well as its active solidarity.
The French MEPs also exchanged views with the chairman of the Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs, Konstantinos Gioulekas, and the vice-chairman of the Committee on European Affairs, Dimitris Karidis, as well as visiting the FRONTEX staff.
The French MEPs underlined the stable friendship between France and Greece and their own and their party's full support for Greece, according to a relevant announcement. "The Mediterranean is our common home and we must do everything to maintain stability in the region," they said, referring to the issues facing Greece with respect to migration and Turkish provocations.
