Fr. Alexander Orphanos Installed at St. George Parish in Lynn, MA

November 11, 2022

BOSTON – Fr. Alexander J. Orphanos was installed by Metropolitan Methodios of Boston as the new Presiding Priest at St. George parish in Lynn, MA. The parish welcomed Metropolitan Methodios, Fr. Alexander, as well as Presbytera Patricia and their son John Alexander along with several of their family members to celebrate the event.  The church was filled with many parishioners to welcome their new priest, the fourth in the history of the parish.

Fr. Alex was tasked by His Eminence to continue the work his predecessors and to enhance it and to build its youth programs. He was strongly encouraged to reach out to the greater Lynn community, to Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike.

The parish came together with all the organizations to welcome Fr. Alex and his family with a beautiful reception following the Divine Liturgy, and he expressed his gratitude to His Eminence for assigning him to Saint George. He expressed his appreciation that the entire community was invited to welcome and support him as he assumes the responsibility of leading the historic parish of Saint George into the future. The Saint George community looks forward to a thriving new chapter for their church under the spiritual leadership of Father Alex.

Fr. Alex Orphanos served as Presiding Priest at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn, MA from 2021-2022. A native of Westwood, MA, Fr. Alex grew up in the Metropolis of Boston and attended the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England. He was active in the church’s ministries and credits his love for youth ministry to his experience as a counselor and camper at the Metropolis of Boston Camp.

Previously, he served as Assistant Priest at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Northridge, CA. He was ordained to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America at the Cathedral of Saint Paul in Hempstead, NY, on August 25, 2019, and to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco at Saint Nicholas in Northridge on October 6, 2019. Prior to being ordained, Fr. Alex served as Pastoral Assistant at the Cathedral of Saint Paul on Long Island from 2016 to 2019.

Fr. Alex graduated from Hellenic College in 2011 and received his Master of Divinity from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2016.
