Four Public Hospitals to Get Upgrades under First RRF Contract for Greek Hospitals

ATHENS – The first contract on hospital improvements that are funded by Recovery and Resilience Fund resources was signed in Athens on Friday.

The agreement, at a contractual expenditure of 4.2 million euros, relates to renovation and reconstruction of health spaces and hospitalization units at four public hospitals: Tzannio General Hospital of Piraeus, Metaxa General Hospital of Piraeus, Attikon University General Hospital and the Psychiatric Hospital of Athens.

Works will improve the quality of services and meeting public needs, and are expected to be completed by the end of this year (2023).

Signing were the governor of the 2nd Health Region of Piraeus & the Aegean, Christos Roilos, and the contractor “Stathis Kokkinis Technology 2020 SA”, in the presence of Health Minister Anastasia Kotanidou. The Health Region thanked former Health Minister Thanos Plevris and former Alternate Health Minister Mina Gaga “for their decisive contribution to the speedy completion of procedures for inclusion of the projects (in the funding) and their auctioning.” They also thanked Greece’s privatization fund HRADF and the Health Region’s services department.
