Enterprise Greece and Elitour to Sign MoU Aiming to Promote Health Tourism in Greece

ΑΤΗΕΝS -- Upgrading Greece as an attractive destination for health and medical tourism will be the focus of a memorandum of understanding to be signed by Enterprise Greece and Elitour.

Enterprise Greece president and general secretary of International Economic Affairs and Openness at the foreign ministry, Yiannis Smyrlis, along with Greek Medical Tourism Council (Elitour) board president and Attica governor Giorgos Patoulis, as well as Enterprise Greece CEO Giorgos Filiopoulos, will sign a MoU between Enterprise Greece and Elitour on January 28, 2021.

The aim of the MoU is to carry out joint initiatives that will promote Greece's position as attractive destination for medical tourism. Greece offers a number of high-standard specialists and good infrastructure in both healthcare and tourism, while Elitour will have the role of a liaison partner between Greek and foreign agencies.

Both sides aim to exploit the investment opportunities that the sector offers for Greece, as well as the growth of medical tourism that will attract investment, which will contribute to preserving high-level health services both for citizens and visitors from abroad. It also is counteract the "brain drain" among Greek health professionals, which increased during the financial crisis.
