The Great British Bake Off Features Two Greek-Cypriot Bakers in Season 12

LONDON, UK – The Great British Bake Off unveiled its 2021 bakers as season 12 of the series launches this month with two bakers of Greek-Cypriot descent.

“Met police detective Amanda, 56, and dad-of-three George, 34, both come from Greek-Cypriot families and love to include Greek inspiration in their bakes,” Yahoo News reported.

The remaining bakers, of Italian, Jamaican, Kenyan, Portuguese-Goan, German, and Trinidadian heritage, also bring an international flavor to the competition, according to Yahoo News.

“The 12 bakers will battle it out over 10 weeks in the Bake Off tent, hoping to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith enough to win Star Baker,” Yahoo News reported, adding that “season 12 of The Great British Bake Off is set to begin on Tuesday, September 21 at 8 PM on Channel 4 [in the UK], with the final scheduled for November 23.”

The Great British Bake Off airs as The Great British Baking Show in the U.S. on Netflix which will begin streaming season 12 on Friday, September 24.
