First Ever Porphyra Live Christmas Concert Online (Video)

NEW YORK –Porphyra’s first ever Christmas Holiday concert was streamed online live on December 21. The concert was enjoyed free via Facebook Live and YouTube Live and celebrated the band’s new album “The Starmaker’s Prophecy” and the rock opera “Anna and Vladimir.”

Festive rock music entertained fans of the band who could log in anywhere across the globe with an internet connection.

The performers included the charismatic, powerhouse vocalist Elaine Tuttle, Billy Chrissochos on guitar, Mike “Risko” Savvas on guitar and tzoura- the smaller cousin of the bouzouki, Jose A. Navia on bass, and Richard Khuzami on percussion. For anyone who missed the live concert, it is still available on Facebook and YouTube at the Porphyra Official Channel to enjoy throughout the holiday season and beyond. The new album is available online as is the rock opera Anna and Vladimir.

Recognized and awarded by UNESCO, Porphyra, a Grecian Rock Opera, made its debut at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall in May 2015 and Off Broadway debut at the famed West Village Players Theatre in May 2016. Porphyra’s album, “Faith, Struggle, Victory” also won the 2016 Best Rock Album in the Akademia Music Awards. Porphyra’s Rock Opera debut at Flushing Town Hall was named “Pick of the Week” by “It’s in Queens” the popular online blog.

Porphyra has also been awarded 1st place at the 2017 Russian Youth Forum by the Government of Moscow and the Gorchakov fund. Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the Club for UNESCO Piraeus and Islands, and Member of the Board of the World Federation of Associations and Club Centers for UNESCO, responsible for Europe and North America, attended a presentation of Porphyra in New York during which he appointed Chrissochos as a director of Modern Music for UNESCO Piraeus & Islands after the recommendation of composer Panagiotis Karousos.
