January 10, 2023

ATHENS – The fire that broke out on Monday afternoon in the area of Kolovrechtis, a wetland in Psachna, Evia, was still raging on Tuesday. By midnight, firefighters and volunteers battling the flames had managed to contain the fire fronts but the fire continued to burn uncontrollably in an inaccessible area within the wetland.

At first light, the Fire Brigade started operating in order to minimise the destruction wrought by the fire on the wetland, which is of great environmental importance.

While there are many houses in the wider area, none of them were in danger.
