NEW YORK – The world discovered a new favorite summer film over the weekend. Official data published today by Netflix revealed that the film ‘Find Me Falling’ reached the #1 spot worldwide during its first weekend on the streaming platform, from July 19-22.
The massive success will not only attract attention to Cyprus as a visitor destination, it will also demonstrate the value of the local audiovisual ecosystem that is earning impressive viewership and respect on the global stage.
More than 14.4 million subscribers have watched ‘Find Me Falling’ since its premier on Netflix on July 19. Within only three days, they streamed more than 22.5 million hours of footage that was filmed, edited, and mixed entirely in Cyprus.
The romantic comedy follows an aging rock star played by Harry Connick, Jr. who retreats to a cliffside island home where, according to Netflix, “his new life is soon complicated by visitors — and an old love played by Agni Scott.”
The summer vibes of Cyprus have quickly emerged as one of the film’s major attractions. Writing in The New York Times, Lisa Kennedy described the filmmakers as “undaunted” and noted that the film “exudes affection for the country’s craggy terrain and its people.”
‘Find Me Falling’ was written and directed by Stelana Kliris and produced by Steven Shapiro and Keith Arnold. The production was supervised by Simos Manganis, with Dionysios Manganis serving as line producer. Production services were provided by Cyprus-based Green Olive Films.
The film is a USA-Cyprus co-production by Jupiter Peak Productions in partnership with Meraki Films. The production was supported by the Program for the Development of Cyprus Cinema and the Cyprus Cash rebate incentive program.
Simos Manganis said: “Green Olive Films has supported many firsts for the local film industry and attracted productions with multi-million euro budgets. We have proven our expertise and reach, and with the success of ‘Find Me Falling’ on Netflix we are taking another major step at the international level. This is a great opportunity to showcase the skills and experience that are putting Cyprus on the map as an important center for film production.”
Green Olive Films was founded in 1996 and today is a leading full-service production company with operations in Greece and Cyprus. Green Olive has worked on an impressive list of familiar international projects for Netflix, Amazon, Paramount+, Channel 5, History Channel, National Geographic, as well as international commercials for famous brands such as Perrier, Dior, Tory Burch, and TUI.
