Fifty Refugees Relocated from Greece to Dublin

ATHENS — Fifty recognised refugees were relocated to Dublin and twelve asylum-seekers to Brussels, bringing the total number of relocations from Greece to other EU member-states to 4,299.

The recognised refugees, from Syria and Afghanistan, left on Monday, September 13, from the Athens International Airport "El. Venizelos ", while today 12 asylum seekers from Afghanistan followed, with Brussels as their destination.

According to an announcement of the migration ministry, the relocation of the 50 recognised refugees from Greece to Ireland – among them 15 families with children – and the 12 asylum seekers from Greece to Belgium took place as part of the relocation programme of recognised refugees from Greece in the member states of the European Union.

Since the start of the relocation programme, a total of 4,299 recognized refugees, asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors have been successfully relocated. In particular, 1,720 recognised refugees, 1,603 asylum seekers and 976 unaccompanied minors have been transferred from Greece to the member states of the European Union.
