ATHENS — A list of the best Greek islands for Danish travellers was published by 'Vagabond', the leading Scandinavian travel magazine put out by the top Danish travel agency of the same name, as part of a successful promotional campaign organised by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) office for Scandinavia.

Naxos places first place in the list, with Andros in second place, followed by Mykonos, Santorini, Koufonisia, Milos and Ios, which is considered the promising new entry for the Scandinavian market. The author of the feature states that he is enchanted by the island, with its sandy dreamy beaches and crystal clear waters, which has appeared in international film productions. The list is of great importance for Greek tourism in Denmark, a country whose national economy has shown impressive performance and great endurance, even in difficult times.

IOS

"The pandemic will not discourage us. We managed to save our strength, despite the adversities of the previous year. This year we are preparing two modern websites, a new tourist logo and thematic videos in order to highlight all the aspects of the destination. At the same time, with the appropriate promotional actions, we state our presence through big features in the foreign media," the mayor of Ios, Gikas Gikas.

NAXOS & SMALL CYCLADES

"2020 was a difficult tourist year, with Greek travellers giving us a vote of confidence. Under these unprecedented conditions, we have not stopped creating the conditions for our destinations to be world leaders. The special interests, gastronomy and island hopping are components of our constant effort," the deputy mayor for tourism for the Municipality of Naxos & Small Cyclades Vangelis Katsaras said.

ANDROS

"Armed with the protection of health, a range of special forms of tourism and a unique coastline, Andros stood upright last year, while in general it has not ceased to be a leader in the lists of the international media from around the world. Through a structured promotional programme, the Municipality lays the foundations for new international distinctions", commented the Deputy Mayor of Tourism for the Municipality of Andros, Nikos Moustakas.
