F-4 Military Training Aircraft Crashes 25 Nautical Miles South of Andravida

ATHENS – A Hellenic Air Force F-4 fighter jet crashed into the sea on Monday at 10:30, 25 nautical miles south of Andravida.

A search and rescue operation to locate the two pilots was launched. Two AB-205 Air Force helicopters, an S-70 Hellenic Navy helicopter and a number of Coast Guard vessels were sent to the area where the fighter plane fell, while a C-130 aircraft is on standby.

According to sources, the two-seater aircraft of the 338 Squadron of the 117 Combat Wing was carrying out a training flight when it fell.


Despite being unable to prevent smugglers in Turkey from sending refugees and migrants to Greek islands and the northern land border along the Evros River, Greece has made significant progress in dealing with human trafficking, according to a report by the Council of Europe's Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA).
