Europride Festival in Thessaloniki at the End of June Cancelled

THESSALONIKI — The Europride Festival due to be held in Thessaloniki at the end of June has been cancelled as a measure to contain the spread of coronavirus, the festival's board announced on Wednesday.

According to the same announcement, the organisation of the Europride "in the autumn would be a very uncertain and high-risk option as the authorities, following the instructions of the international scientific community, can't guarantee that mass congregations, concerts or congresses will be possible up to the end of 2020 or rule out the possibility of a second wave of COVID-19 and subsequent lockdown."

The same announcement said that there is collaboration wth the European Federation of Pride Organisers to examine possible alternative solutions in the following years, adding a a series of events will be held in September and in October 2020 in Thessaloniki adjusted the new coronavirus reality.
