EU: Turkey’s Role is Crucial

The European Commission`s report on Turkey which was published on November 10 emphasized the importance of Turkey in efforts to achieve a Cyprus settlement. CNA  noted that Ankara’s “continued commitment and contribution in concrete terms to a comprehensive settlement of the Cyprus problem remains crucial.”

“The report on Turkey is part of the 2015 enlargement package adopted today by the European Commission. According to the report, Turkey has still not fulfilled its obligation to ensure full and non-discriminatory implementation of the Additional Protocol to the Association Agreement and has not removed all obstacles to the free movement of goods, including restrictions on direct transport links with Cyprus…In addition, the report notes that “there was no progress on normalising bilateral relations with the Republic of Cyprus,” CNA  reported.
