EU Officials Express Solidarity to Earthquake-Stricken People of Crete

ATHENS — European Parliament President David Sassoli expressed "solidarity with the people of Crete who were hit by a severe earthquake today," in a tweet on Monday.

Sassoli added that "our sincere condolences go to the family of the person who died, and our best wishes for a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured."

Earlier on Monday, Head of the European Peoples Party (EPP) parliamentary group Manfred Weber also sent a message of solidarity and condolences and said EPP "stands ready to support Greece in any way we can."
