Ela Re! You Must Come Soon to Ela Greek Kitchen in Jersey City

February 18, 2022

How can you not come to a place called Ela Greek Kitchen? You’ll have to wait until the end of March though for the opening.

It’s in Jersey City, New Jersey, owned by George Makrogiannis, who is also the owner of Buddy’s JC, but for his Greek restaurant has stuffed the menu with traditional favorites.

That means, souvlaki, gyro, steak, spanakopita, Greek salad, olives and hummus dip, the classic stuffed grape leaves called dolmades, tzatziki, and pita bread, and desserts including baklava and galaktoboureko.

He said ingredients come straight from Greece and that the dishes are all authentic, really Greek, if with a touch of Americana too.

Some people can’t wait, with a buzz on social media anticipating the opening and the food, reported Hoboken Girl.

“I’m Greek and there’s nothing Greek around here … I cannot wait!” while another stated, “I have been waiting for a Greek restaurant forever!” Someone else quipped: “Thanks for opening close to us! We’ve been dying for a taste of authentic Greek!” The also noted: “We’re thinking late March as long as there are no hiccups.”
