Eight Cases of Coronavirus at Care Home for Elderly in Central Greece

KARDITSA, Greece — A total of eight cases of novel coronavirus have been found at a care home for the elderly in Karditsa, Greek authorities announced on Sunday. The first two cases were detected last Tuesday during routine random testing by the National Organisation for Public Health (NOPH) at care homes throughout the country, in collaboration with the labour and social affairs and the regional authority, in two members of staff.

Samples were immediately taken from the rest of the staff and residents, revealing another four infections among the staff, while two more cases among the staff were detected during retesting on Saturday.

NOPH will continue testing in the coming days.
